Mama Mimi celebrated another fabulous twenty-something birthday on June 13! It's always a bittersweet day, since Auntie Kristin and I 'share' birthdays and we are so far away... but my family always makes it special anyhow! Mama Pauli sent a 'birthday-in-a-box,' including a pile of birthday cards with gift cards in each one! Both she and Kristin sent wrapped gifts for Annie to open, too-- which was so nice for Annie! Annie did surprisingly well with the birthday attention on Mommy, instead of herself. She made pretend birthday cakes and cupcakes for me all week long, singing Happy Birthday to Mama and having me blow out the 'candles.' I even decided that this was my best birthday ever, because of all the sweet birthday love Annie doled out to me! Occasionally, however, she did ask, 'What is Mommy's birthday called?' (Me: June 13th), 'Oh, what is Annie's birthday called?' (Me: April 1st), 'Oh, can you talk about it?' She also recalled that all she wanted for her birthday was cake and decided that she was going to make me a real cake for my birthday. She told me she planned to make a banana cake with pink raspberry frosting! She and Daddy ended up making the beautiful (and delicious!) red velvet cake you see in the picture-- topped with butter cream frosting and served with vanilla bean ice cream... yummy!! The only plus of not having family close to celebrate with was the left-over cake we got to enjoy all week long!! (Don't worry fam, still prefer you over cake.) Thank you to all my family for the sweet cards, fun phone calls, and great gifts-- I appreciate all of you!!
